how to compress and decompress files [tar.gz] / [tar] / [zip] via CLI on Linux environments

[tar.gz]:
compress: tar -czvf filename.tar.gz /foldertocompress/
decompress: tar -xzvf filename.tar.gz

[tar]:
compress: tar -cvf filename.tar /foldertocompress/
decompress: tar -xvf filename.tar

Finally, the easiest way is to use ZIP/UNZIP commands…

[zip]:
compress: zip filename.zip /foldertocompress/
decompress: unzip filename.zip
